ZONING: 2023 Southern Governors Forum ( SGF ) vs the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) - Mannir Musa Yisin

By Mannir Musa Yisin, In what looks like hypocrisy challenge, one can't even tell who is more dishonest than the other between Southern Governors Forum and the Northern Elders Forum.

Back in 2015 when president GEJ wanted to contest, after completing Yar'adua's tenure, he was quickly reminded of the gentleman's agreement of power rotation that so far keeps Nig together for the owners of Nigeria's enterprise but stakeholders from the south stood tall to disapprove the arrangement as undemocratic.

Now as the apocalyptic administration of PMB nears its end, a Forum called Southern Governors Forum (SGF) just popped up to preach the gospel of power rotation. What next!?!? A snoring voice from the north now come with a rapid response in rejecting a position that next Nigerian president must be a southerner as declared by the SGF.

Yes, in view of the inconsistency if not hypocrisy visible in the position of the southern elites about zoning the presidency, any group or individual interested in the north-south dichotomy cannot help but spring up to respond to the demand of the SGF.

However, logic demands that NEF should tell northerners the rationale and the fruits of retaining power to the north. PBM is a northerner and we have never had it that worse. If truly the south was wrong back in 2015, how is the north more responsible and patriotic if it insist on abandoning power rotation?

Nigerian masses in general and northerners in particular must be wiser than ever before. Kaduna, the heartbeat of our region is now the hotspot of all sorts of crimes and criminal romance, under a north led administration.

The trade off between the SGF and the NEF cannot be our case. This is elites war. DON'T DIE IN THEIR WAR.
